I’ve Got A Friend In You

A very important part in ones walk with God is fellowship. God calls us to socialize with fellow believers; to exhort and encourage each other in our walks with Him. For me I find comfort in knowing that I have godly friends who will always point me to Christ; friends who will listen and give me God’s word rather than their own opinions. It is very much an “as iron sharpens iron” relationship. I enjoy talking about how God has changed our lives or helping each other with struggles that only a few of us know about.

Friendship is a beautiful thing, however it can also be very dangerous. You must always be aware of carnal Christians. I have had friends, in the past, who on the outside seemed like they loved the Lord but once I really got to know them I realized that their relationship was going to hurt my relationship with Christ. I have had to let go of a few close childhood friends because their friendship was a hindrance rather than a benefit. Yes this did hurt and it took me a while to get over, however my obedience to God brought me twice as many friends who are very godly and have helped me with my walk with my Lord.

Then there are the friendships that have always been there but we never really got close till about a year ago. And these specific men and women have really helped me grow into becoming a more mature Christian young lady. There is a local Christian coffee shop just five minutes from my work and, even though they are closing this Friday, the fellowship from these fellow Christians has blessed me abundantly. I was able to grow closer to two young ladies I’ve known since childhood and get to know fellow church goers who I’ve never really had the chance to get to know.

There are so many different friendships for every season of your life. I have had the privilege of learning from others whether the relationship was good or bad. I have seen growth in my life and in the life of my friends who are walking. Whether you’re five or sixty, God is always going to take and give friendships as He sees fit. It is our job to discern between the good and bad relationships and ultimately trust that God is doing the right thing for our lives.

And with that said, I’d like to thank everyone who has had a hand or still has a hand in helping me becoming the godly young lady I am today and hope to always be.

Much love,

Isabel ❤
