Have Faith

Hebrews 11:1,3, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen… By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

What does it mean to have faith? In the Webster dictionary it says that faith is a “strong belief or trust in someone or something.”

But what does God say about faith? In Acts 3, there is a lame man who is carried to Peter and John seeking to be healed by God’s power. This man had faith that God, through Peter, would heal him. Once he is healed the people around him are in awe of what happened not knowing that God, who’s Son they wanted killed, actually has healed the lame man because of his abundant faith. Peter states in verse 16, “And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.” This man had been born lame from his mother’s womb yet his faith was so great that God healed him.

It is so discouraging to see people around me have such little faith in God. It’s so hard to imagine that people believe that the birds of the sky, the green of the earth, the constantly changing sunsets were created by a “Big Bang.” People desire to see their gods rather than believe that God is there even though we can’t see Him. They don’t want to read the bible but would rather see action. However, if they were patient and meditated on God’s word then they would realize that God is a lot closer than they thought. God is in everything, all we have to do is believe.

I know I can call on Him and He will ease any stress or anxiety. There have been times where I’m doing something outside and it’s just very hot. I’ll pray to God asking for a bit of wind and sure enough wind will come and it will sustain me enough to finish what I am doing. I am constantly thanking Him for upholding me in everything I do.

Faith is a big aspect of our walk with God. Without faith in God we would be lost; constantly searching for something to fulfill us but never succeeding. The faith we have in God is very powerful. It shows the people around us that we have made a commitment to God and His will.

I encourage you to live out your faith that you might find favor in the eyes of our Lord and Savior. And help those who have yet to understand the faith we have in God so that they might come to have a personal relationship with God.
