“Foolish talking and jesting are not the ways in which Christian cheerfulness should express itself, but rather “giving of thanks” (Eph. 5:4). Religion is the source of joy and gladness, but it’s joy is expressed in a religious way, in thanksgiving and praise.” ~ Charles Hodge
I love this quote be Hodge. He perfectly describes how the Christian expresses his thankfulness. This past Sunday I was blessed to be able to help in the Kindergarten class at church. Their minds think so simply yet they’re so smart and they’re like sponges, just absorbing every word the teacher says. Ephesians 5:20 was the center of the study and it states, “giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
During this time of year it is common for us to look back on the psat year and think about all that we’re thankful for, however our thankfulness should not be limited to a holiday. We should be remembering and thanking God ALWAYS. If you wouldn’t limit brushing your teeth or changing your clothes to one day a year than why do we limit our thanks to God for once a year? Giving thanks to God doesn’t just mean when something good has happened in your life. We should be thanking Him for the pain in our lives as well because He is the great healer. He is the one who can take away any hurt in our lives in an instant.
This Thanksgiving season let us remember to thank God always. Not just during the holidays but always. God deserves all glory, honor, and praise. Hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving! ❤️
